A Winning Quilt (Row By Row 2016)

I had fun this summer collecting and sewing these unique rows. I call the quilt my Summer Travels Quilt 2016. Reading through a magazine in July I learned about this contest. Little did I know that in September I would be able to finish and turn in my quilt to win a prize. Common Threads in St. Louis Michigan is where I turned my quilt in. Although I did not have their row in my finished work, I will return next year to this quilt shop and get their row first.

I was able to collect each of the quilt shops licences plates. I also included an outline of each state that the quilt shop was from. This contest was a lot of fun and I hope to be able to do it again next year. 

Vacation

We are spending some  quality time as a family camping. Our first four days have been at Muskalonge State Park. We have been enjoying both Muskalonge Lake, Tahqamenon falls and Lake Superior. We watched the sun set the other night it was great.

Cleaning

I I have been making my own soap for dishes and laundry. We are ready for another month of cleaning. 

My recipe

3 bars fels naphtha bars grated fine

1 box arm hammer washing soda

1 box borax

Mix together and put into quart jars.

I use 1 Tblsp for dishes and 2 Tblsp for laundry.

This one is not Elsa's fault. It's just the season for sub freezing temps.

Winter walk

We braved the cold the other day and went for a walk. It was so nice to get outside the house walls.
